Experience in the power of local plant medicine with the Rise Up Remedies 2020 Fresh Herb CSA!

Before we started our farm, we found ourselves challenged in sourcing locally-grown, organic fresh medicinal herbs for our personal herbal medicine making endeavors. When fresh herbs were challenging to find by or difficult to ethically forage, we had a hard time shoveling out money for dried herbs grown halfway across the world, which were often over-dried or stale by the time we received them.

We started our Fresh Herb CSA last year as a way to provide fresh medicinal herbs to both the herbally curious and seasoned herbalists in the greater Portland area. Our CSA serves as a way for us to give back to our most dedicated customers who support our farm early in the season. After a season with us, your home herbal apothecary will be stocked with medicine you’ve made yourself from 24-28 of our favorite medicinal herbs. Not only that, by joining our CSA, you’ll also have access to our 30+ certified organic herbs (list below!), some of which are rare or otherwise difficult to source fresh. at a discounted CSA member price.

New to using herbs? No problem! We provide written herbal profiles as well as recipe suggestions for each herb in your share, so processing your bounty will be a breeze!

Our 2020 Fresh Herb CSA shares are comprised of a diversity of medicinal herbs, and you’ll have the opportunity to talk with us and your fellow CSA members about the herbs at each CSA pickup in Portland.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Joining our CSA is easy! We offer two different share options so you can choose which size is right for you; the Full Share ($420) or the Half Share ($245). When you choose the Full Share, you can generally expect to receive a full pound of our herbaceous plants and our root crops or between a quart and a half gallon of our flower crops. If you choose the Half Share, each month you will receive half the amount of herbs in the Full Share. We also offer an Apothecary Add-On ($70), which grants you one seasonal small batch herbal product made by your farmers. And with each share, you’ll receive additional CSA exclusive perks!

After choosing your share and signing up, on the first Monday of each month from April to October (dates below), you’ll head to Wildish Botanicals in southeast Portland, where we will introduce you to your herbal array, celebrate the share with an herbal snack or libation, and send you on your way with your herbs and herbal profiles in tow.

When you arrive home with your herbs, the Herbal Profiles and recipes we provide will guide you on your medicine making journey. As the plants grow on our farm throughout the season, so will your herbal apothecary!
