Native to temperate and northern Europe, Greenland, Iceland, the Himalayas and Russia, Angelica has a long tradition of use and is now a popular herb in much of the world. This bitter herb has a licorice-like taste and is a commonly used in support of the gastrointestinal tract.
Angelica is a biennial plant that is often harvested for the root. Culinarily, the seeds and flowers are traditionally harvested for bitters. We harvest the roots of this aromatic plant for our tincture in the fall of its first year of growth when the energy of the plant moves downward. The roots are then chipped and dried before we make the tincture.
